European Smoke Alarm Day

Each year fire deaths in the European Union total around 5,000. That’s why smoke alarms need more wider attention in Europe. Smoke alarms can save your life and those of your loved ones. Even though this device is small, it is indispensable… Smoke alarms save lives!

A smoke detector alerts you in time, so that you can escape from the smoke in a burning house and call the emergency services.

Smoke is extremely poisonous
Smoke inhalation is the number 1 cause of death in house fires. Smoke is extremely poisonous and can quickly make you unconscious. Smoke also makes you see less if you try to escape from a burning house. This makes it difficult to get out safely on time. So smoke is life-threatening!

European Smoke Alarm Day
Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out. This cheap and, in many cases, effective fire safety solution needs to have a much broader application in European homes. For that reason Fire Officers from all over Europe work together with the European Fire Safety Alliance to start the European Smoke Alarm Day.
