The Council of Gas Detection and Environmental Monitoring (CoGDEM EU) will hold (online) a Roundtable on ensuring carbon monoxide (CO) safety in the context of the EU’s housing strategy, on Tuesday 18 February (13h45 – 15h30).
The new European Commission has committed to make decent, affordable housing for all a top priority for this new five-year mandate, and has announced initiatives such as European Affordable Housing Plan and EU Heating & Cooling Action Plan. CoGDEM EU would like these to properly address domestic health & safety considerations, notably as concerns risks associated with heating systems (including often deadly CO intoxications), and in a context of growing energy poverty further increasing vulnerability. This will be the theme of the upcoming CO Roundtable, which will bring together MEPs Adam Jarubas (EPP, Poland) and Grégory Allione (Renew, France), Marco Morini (European Commission, DG ENER) and key stakeholders such as ANEC, the European Environmental Bureau (EEB), and Efficient Buildings Europe.
