The objectives of European Smoke Alarm Day are to encourage more European governments to make it mandatory to install smoke alarms in domestic properties and to increase awareness about existing smoke alarm campaigns at national level and at fire service level. We also need to continue to educate the public about the benefits of installing smoke alarms. This topic is becoming more and more urgent due to the rapid ageing of the European population, which results in an increase in the number of vulnerable people.
